History: In the 18th century, Pichon Lalande and Pichon Baron were one estate - among the finest in the Medoc. In the early 19th century, the vineyard was divided among the heirs of Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville, creating Pichon Comtesse de Lalande and Pichon Baron. In the 1920's Pichon Lalande was purchased by a company run by Edward Miailhe. His daughter, Mai de Lencquesaing, has owned and managed the estate since 1978. She is widely credited with having raised Pichon Lalande's quality to one of the highest levels in the Medoc. The chateau and chai are now a showplace.
